Women Under Construction

Day 6

Day #6-THE BUILDING & REBUILDING PROCESS There is a distinct difference between the process of building and rebuilding something.  If you’ve ever restored something old into something new, you know that it involves breaking it down and then rebuilding it back up.  Nehemiah understood how difficult the rebuilding process would be when he surveyed the wall of the City of Jerusalem.  "Then said I unto them, Ye see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach."  (Nehemiah 2:17).   After organizing the people, with the favor of the king, and with plenty of resources, Nehemiah rebuilt the wall.

Let's examine the process of "building" and "rebuilding."  A good example would be the difference between the steps required to handcraft a brand new sofa, and the steps required to reupholster an old sofa.  To handcraft an original sofa, the craftsman must nail together pieces of wood to form the frame.  Next, he will apply layers of padding and fillers to the wood frame to cushion the sofa inside and out.  Then, he will sew together pieces of fabric that will cover the sofa frame, seat cushions, backs, and arms.  Finally, he will stitch the covering onto the piece of furniture to fashion it into a beautiful new sofa.

The steps required to reupholster that same piece of furniture are different.  First, the craftsman will have to remove the old covering, replace some of the existing padding, and possibly reinforce the wood frame.   Only then will he be ready to sew together a new covering and affix it.  While the piece of furniture is stripped down to its original frame, it doesn’t look very good.  It can't be used for seating or lounging, and all of its flaws from years of wear and tear are gruesomely visible.  But, as the process of reupholstering continues, the piece of furniture begins to take on a new of life.  The fabric, color, shape and style can all be enhanced to make the final product into an even more beautiful new piece of furniture.  It can be repurposed so that many inhabitants can comfortably lounge upon it for many years to come.

How much more will God help you tear away the old worn out coverings, matted down cushions, and dilapidated old frame of your life and replace it with a brand new YOU!!!  It may take a lifetime, but God's Word and His supernatural power are always available you.  But, He needs your permission, and He needs your participation to help you make the needed changes.  As a Woman Under Construction, the renovation process will include DEMOLITION.  Demolition can be inconvenient, painful  and agonizing at best, but it’s the only way the renovation process can begin.  It is ALWAYS worth the sacrifice!!!  Our God is an "exceeding, abundantly all we can ask or think" God.  (Ephesians 3:20)  It may take some effort on your part, but in course of time, you will enjoy the abundance of being a totally renovated, BRAND NEW YOU.  (Post a comment on the Blog and repeat the following TOOL FOR TODAY several times)

TOOL FOR TODAY:  I was fearfully and wonderfully made by God.  I will not allow the issues of life to keep me from fulfilling my divine purpose and experiencing God’s best.  I now begin the process of renovation in my mind.  I am a Woman Under Construction.
