Women Under Construction

Day #4 TOOLS OF THE TRADE

Just the other day, I needed to unscrew a Philips screw to install an appliance bulb over my stove.  I was in the kitchen, so I grabbed a butter knife.  After many tries, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get the butter knife to fit into the slots in the screw head, and I bent the tip of my butter knife in the process.  Then, it occurred to me…..YOU HAVE TO USE THE RIGHT TOOL FOR THE RIGHT JOB.

God was very specific when He told Noah how to build the ark. He told him what materials and measurements to use.  "Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.  A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.”  (Ge 6:13-16)   I’m sure Noah used very primitive tools to build the ark.  But because God commanded him to build the ark, God anointed him to make the tools necessary to get the job done.

On today’s construction site, there will be heavy and light machinery, hand tools, materials and supplies.  The workers are required by law to wear a hard hat, goggles and steel-toe shoes.  And, they must adhere to government safety guidelines and undergo inspections along the way.  As you continue this 30-day journey and go through the process of being renovated as a "Woman Under Construction,” you should make sure you surround yourself with the right tools.  (1) You should keep a Bible handy.  It is your blueprint.  I believe the Lord will have you to go to the scriptures in your Bible that are recorded within these Daily Devotionals.  You will be able to read a few verses before and after the scriptures that are discussed, and He will illuminate the scriptures in your spirit.  This will help you understand the scripture within its context for a deeper understanding.  (2) You should keep a pen & paper , a journal, or an electronic notepad handy .  Then, you will be able to record your thoughts and feelings about what you're reading, and what the Lord is saying to you.  If you don’t write things down immediately, you may not be able to remember them later.  And, there is something about the process of writing.  It helps you to internalize what you have seen, heard and learned.  (3) If you have additional Bible study aids (Bible dictionary, Bible handbook, concordance, etc.), feel free to use them.  (4) Posting a comment on the Blog and repeating the TOOL FOR TODAY will enhance your learning and transformation (renovation) journey experience.  I believe God will give us exact specifications and anoint our tools just like He did with Noah as we take this journey of transformation and renovation.  (Post a comment on the Blog and repeat the following TOOL FOR TODAY several times)

TOOL FOR TODAY:  Father, I thank You for providing me with the blueprint, materials and the tools I need to be transformed by the renewing of my mind.  I will use every tool that You supply for Your glory.
