65 Day Challenge

Week 1
March 19, 2012By Pastor Wendy Williams

WEEK #1:  GOD IS WITH US, AND WE’RE IN THIS THING TOGETHER!!!

It is such a blessing to know that in every situation or endeavor, we are not alone.  The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 10:13 "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”  Every situation is "common to man.”  That means someone already has faced a similar situation, and has overcome it.  The word "suffer” in this Scripture means "to allow.”  God doesn’t "cause” suffering, but He will "allow” consequences from our poor choices (or consequences from the poor choices of our forefathers in the form of generational curses).  As a result, we may be predisposed to poor eating habits and congenital diseases.  But, we can make mid-course corrections and cancel generational curses and disease, in the Name of Jesus.

We can use this  65-Day Health & Fitness Challenge as our way of escape.  Let’s all make a commitment to make a mid-course correction and set a personal Health & Fitness Goal RIGHT NOW!   You may choose to lose weight, lower your cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, etc.  Maybe you would like to exercise and become fit.  Whatever you choose to do, setting a personal goal is the first step.  Take that step now.  It’s like getting into a swimming pool. You can stick one toe into the water to test the temperature.  Then, you can gradually ease yourself into the water until it is waist high.  Then, dip your whole body into the water.  When you do that, you prolong the process of allowing your body to adjust to the coolness of the water, and your teeth may begin to chatter.  All while you’re doing that, everyone else is having a ball splashing around, and gliding from one end of the pool to the other with beautiful breaststrokes.   So let’s all just hold hands and jump into the water together.  We're not competing against each other.  Each one of us will set our personal goal(s) as our very own health and fitness challenge.  SET YOUR PERSONAL GOAL NOW!!!

FOLLOW MY 12 STEPS OF GOAL ACCOMPLISHMENT:

1.      Set a realistic and obtainable goal.  Be specific.

2.      Write it down on a piece of paper.

3.      Chart where you are now (Weight, measurements, cholesterol level, etc.)

4.      Post images of the goal accomplished all around you.  Photos are great!

5.      Repeat your "Healthy Lifestyle Confession” throughout the day.  (See Below)

6.      Chart your progress regularly.

7.      Reward yourself for the progress you have made.

8.      Do not become discouraged when it appears no progress has been made.

9.      Persevere and stay the course.  (Never give up. Never give out. Never give in.)

10.  Praise God for any accomplishment.

11.  Celebrate your success.

12.  Share your testimony with others.

HEALTHY LIFESTYLE CONFESSION PATTERN:

Father, I thank you that I have successfully (State your accomplished goal).  I am enjoying (Make a statement of being, doing and having your accomplished goal).  I thank You, Father (Thank Him for the accomplishment).  And I give you glory, honor and praise, in the Name of Jesus.

MY PERSONAL HEALTHY LIFESTYLE CONFESSION:

Father, I thank you that I have lost 20 pounds, and I have lowered my cholesterol by at least 30 points.  I am enjoying wearing clothing that is 2 sizes smaller.  I am fit, strong, and I have more energy.  I enjoy eating healthy food, exercising and living a healthy lifestyle. I thank You Father, for this accomplishment, and I give you glory, honor and praise, in the Name of Jesus.

THIS CHALLENGE HAS BEGUN!   LET'S ENCOURAGE EACH OTHER FOR MAXIMUM RESULTS.   WE'LL ALL CELEBRATE TOGETHER AT JUBILEE CHRISTIAN CENTER AT 10:00 AM ON SUNDAY, MAY 13th.   ARE YOU READY TO JUMP IN?  READY, SET GO....

I'm excited about the health challenge and I'm ready to get moving in the right direction. There is a free tool you can use to track your calorie intake, exercise, and water intake. You don't have to know how many calories a food item is because you can simply use the food look-up tool to find your favorite food items. The tool is completely customizeable to the number of calories you need to intake to reach your personal goals. The tool is www.myfitnesspal.com. You can also download the My Fitness Pal app to your iPhone or Android smart phone for free. The phone app with tie in with the website so you can quickly log your food items or exercise times. Check it out...you won't be disappointed.

Yes this is great for my mind body and spirit. Even though I'm five months pregnant battling with keeping my glucose levels down I think I can do this 65 day challenge which will help me be more aware of what I put in my mouth.

I'm really excited about my personal challenge. I'm getting organized this weekend by shopping for lean meats and fresh fruits & vegetables. I'll make a pot of cabbage soup. Then, I'll run all my exercise clothes through the washer. What do you plan to do?
