There are many ways to distribute goods and services. After the virtuous woman’s household is well stocked, she has an abundance of goods to export and sell to the merchants abroad. The virtuous woman is a shrewd business woman. She is a supplier, manufacturer, and a distributor. When she makes fine linen and she sells it, she is a supplier of fine linen. To use a contemporary example, she would be like the supplier who sells denim in bulk to Levi Strauss ®. Levi Strauss would then manufacture jeans and sell them to retail stores like Macy's. The public would come to Macy's and purchase Levis. She doesn’t have to wait for the jeans to sell to realize a profit. She walks away with her profit off the top.
When she delivers girdles to the merchants, she is the manufacturer of girdles. To use a contemporary example again, she would be like the Playtex ® manufacturer who buys raw materials, makes undergarments, and sells them in bulk to retail stores like Macy’s. The public would come into Macy’s and purchase her undergarments. Once again, the virtuous woman doesn’t have to wait for Macy's to sell her undergarments to reap a profit. She walks away with her profit off the top.
The virtuous woman didn't start out that way, though. She progressively became a virtuous (strong) woman of greatness and abundance. She began with just her gifts and talents and the ability to make fine linen and undergarments for herself and her family. Over time, she made an excess and built up reserves until she had an abundance besides. She was smart enough to plan, set aside, save and invest. She didn't spend her savings. She invested in herself, and after a while, she was able to make more and more fine linen.....and more and more undergarments. Eventually, she had enough to sell to merchants for a profit. Likewise, you can start where you are with your gifts and talents and build progressively into greatness and abundance. Whether you have the skills to produce goods to sell or not, all you need is a plan and the discipline to save and invest in your future. Write out a plan today to save, invest and reap a profit. GEM FOR TODAY: Father, I thank You for giving me the ability to reap a profit from the fruit of labors. Teach me how to write out a plan, and give me the discipline to save and invest so that I enjoy Your abundant life.
